cecilia project, inc.

One of my more significant innovations was in emerging technologies, when in 1988 I began an endeavor entitled Cecilia Project, Inc. The aim of the company was to create a self contained MIDI based performing music system. After two years of development working with a team of designers, fabricators, software and audio engineers, we produced the Cecilia System. This system processed and performed MIDI files through a series of hardware components controlled by a touch screen computer which ran proprietary software.

hot off the wall

Eclectic Electric

Having had to deal with thousands of audio wires, cables, electrical appliances, synthesizers, audio systems, recording studios and more, I became fed up with the ugliness of devices that had to be in the open. This was a solution that I invented to mask the ugliness of provding electric to remote areas of one’s dwelling.

You can see other examples of these devices at the website www.HotOffTheWall.com

digital music library & projection system

While Director of Music at Our Lady of the Mountains in Jackson Wyoming, I developed a digital music system for projecting organ music from a laptop computer onto a large flat screen monitor. This system also incorporates a completely digital library of 11,000 pages of organ music that reside as PDF files.

drag and drop chant engraving system & hybrid notation

As a lover of Gregorian Chant and the organ accompaniments of the Nova Organi Harmonia, I created a new method for engraving chant manuscripts using vector objects utilizing Adobe’s InDesign Software Application. This format includes using the modern grand staff and superimposing the chant melody in Gregorian notation taking advantage of both systems for ease of reading, especially by the organist.

modes demystified

This flash demonstration allows one to hear all of the various church modes using a pedal point in the bass. In listening to these exercises one can become familiar with the intervalic relationships within each scale.

the demystification of the harmonic series

This website is a digital instrument which allows one to play all the notes in the harmonic series. I have tuned each note so that it is the pure tone of the exact frequency within the series.

trade show exhibit audio/video projection system

I was tasked to create a projection system for two corporations, Southwestern Branch Metals and AMI Capital. The need was for a large screen monitor and a speaker system to play music with accompanying animation and text. The production was executed in Flash with a built in interactive control so that the user could choose from various musical selections before the animation commenced. The production of the animation was conceived to allure passerbys during a trade show. The messaging was therefore delivered in soundbites of five to ten seconds in duration.

 floosiga

vector art

Floosiga is a brand name derived from the term ‘fleussiga kuensta’ which in German means, ‘fluid or flowing art’. Accomplished using Adobe Illustrator, these designs are strictly created using mathematical vectors (straight and curved lines). Once they are output, I then can treat them in various ways: acrylic, giclee, film, etc.

the koerber rotator

Because all of my vector art designs are square, I wanted to be able to rotate them on the wall to show that each one is perfectly balanced and can be viewed in eight different ways.
